Angela M. Rooney Pasadena Family Attorney

Angela M. Rooney, Attorney

Angela holds a BA from the University of Southern California and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Her background includes extensive practice in family law, corporate transactions and litigation. Angela is admitted to practice in Federal Court in the Central District and before all California State Courts. She is a member of the State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Pasadena Bar Association, Italian American Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Professional Women. Pasadena Magazine has named Angela as one of Pasadena's Top Attorneys each year since 2009.

Robert K. Holmes, Founding Partner

Robert K. Holmes, founding partner of the firm, is a licensed attorney in California, New York, the District of Columbia, and before the United States Supreme Court. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Southern California in 1972 and his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1975. Robert is a Certified Family Law Specialist handling dissolution and custody litigation.

He has served extensively as a Judge Pro Tem in Los Angeles, Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena courts and serves as a court mediator and settlement officer. For many years he was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Laverne University School of Law.

Robert resides in Glendale with his wife and law partner Deborah, and their five children. He is also a private pilot who enjoys scuba diving and motorcycling.

Deborah Millington Holmes, Partner

Deborah Millington Holmes, partner in the firm, is a licensed attorney in California, the District of Columbia, and before the United States Supreme Court. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge in 1977 and her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1990 and a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from National University in 2009. Her current practice emphasizes adoption litigation, adoption, and paternity matters. She also practices in areas addressing child related issues such as child abuse, guardianship and grandparent visitation.

Deborah has served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court, is frequently appointed by the courts to represent children and does extensive pro bono work furthering the rights of children and families. She is active in the National Association of Counsel for Children, the American Professional Society on Abuse of Children and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Deborah resides in Glendale with her husband and law partner, Robert, and their five children. She enjoys traveling, scuba diving, horses and reading. She is a proud member of the Advisory Board for Children International, a worldwide charity dedicated to helping impoverished children throughout the world.

Rima G. Cameron, Associate

Rima G. Cameron, is an attorney licensed to practice in California and Massachusetts and before the U.S. Central District Court, Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the California Supreme Court. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College in 1978, and her Juris Doctor degree from Boston University in 1984. Rima has practiced family law exclusively since 2002, handling litigated cases for the firm. In 2010, she changed her focus from litigating to mediating family law cases after receiving specialized mediation training. She has completed the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s 30 hour Mecliation Training course as well as their 18 hour Dispute Resolution Services Advanced Skills Practicum.

Silvie Jierjian, Associate

Silvie Jierjian is an associate attorney with the firm, and is admitted to practice in California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Silvie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine in 2011 and her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School in 2015. In law school she worked as a law clerk to a family law judge at the Los Angeles County Superior Court and at the California Attorney General’s Office. She also clerked for the firm prior to passing the bar exam.

Silvie enjoys reading, hiking, and is an avid soccer fan.

Sana Abasi, Senior Associate

Sana Abasi is a senior associate attorney with Holmes & Holmes, Attorney at Law. She is admitted to practice law both in California and United States District of California.

Sana completed her undergraduate education with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2001. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Layola Law School, Los Angeles in 2004.

Over the past decade, Sana has dedicated her practice to family law, assisting clients with matters involving all types of family legal issues, including dissolution of marriage, legal separation, paternity, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, characterization and division of community property assets and obligations, business valuation and reimbursement issues. She is not only an experienced and knowledgeable divorce lawyer, who works to ensure that her clients fully understand the legal process and issues with which they are faced, but is also qualified as Certified Family Law Specialist by the State of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Sana has helped clients in reaching settlements, with compassion and consideration for the clients’ unique needs, the parties’ financial circumstances and the needs of their children, in hundreds of divorce cases.

She has also family law litigation and trial experience in both Kern and Los Angeles Counties.

Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked as a special education advocate for Public Counsel Law Center, where she became familiar with concerns particular to special needs children. She has further served as a board member for the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic.

Sana provides volunteer services to the Los Angeles Superior Court as a Daily Settlement Officer and Mediator, assisting litigants in resolving legal issues in their family law matters set for hearing before the Court.

In her free time, Sana enjoys travelling to outdoor destinations, artistic hobbies and spending time with family and friends.

Virginia Dotson, Paralegal

Virginia Dotson, an experienced paralegal, joined Holmes & Holmes in 1999. Virginia is a 1994 graduate of Phillips College where she earned her degree in paralegal studies. She provides the attorneys in our Family Law Practice with solid and reliable assistance and serves as a listening ear to our clients. In addition to being paralegal, Virginia is also the firms office manager.

Family law clients are often faced with a variety of emotional situations. Virginia presents a calm, helpful and supportive demeanor as she handles their immediate needs, while patiently explaining procedures. While our clients experience open and frequent communication with their attorney, Virginia is an additional liaison between the clients and our firm. Our family law attorneys look to her often as the initial contact with our clients. She is also relied upon by the attorneys for drafting necessary documents, meeting directly with the clients, scheduling appointments and court appearances, as well as keeping the clients files organized.

With 22 years of experience as a paralegal, she has been exposed to many areas of law, and also feels it is important to continually increase her knowledge, not only in the field, but also in other areas that will enhance her ability to serve clients.

Virginia is a member of the San Francisco Valley Legal Secretaries Association and a Notary Public for the State of California since 2000.

A basketball enthusiast, Virginia earned a spot on the Junior National Team touring China in 1992. That experience earned her numerous distinctions and awards including runner-up at the California State championship in 1993.

Virginia and her husband Brian enjoy traveling and spending time with their children.

Cristie Cordova, Receptionist

Cristie Cordova is the firm’s valuable receptionist and office assistant. Her happy, helpful voice is the one first heard by clients when the firm is contacted. In addition to greeting clients, her duties include maintaining files, processing the mail and billing, and office telecommunications. She is a dedicated team player.

Cristie enjoys movies, dancing, bowling and most importantly, being a mother to her son, Brandon.
